We have been traveling to Japan at least once every year since 2008 because it is one of our favorite places to visit in Asia. Since we heard the news of Tohoku earthquake and tsunami (東日本大震災) hitting Japan on March 11th, 2011, both of us have been contemplating doing something to help.
Last December, we decided to construct a personal project based on our fascination with Kyoto’s Geisha culture – an editorial fashion shoot: Yuki the Modern Geisha. Crystal, a Japanese/German model, was Yuki for our shoot. Her fair skin, story-telling eyes, and poses, made up the perfect profile for this shoot. Even with the perfect model, make-up artist (many thanks to Christina Chen!!), location, and props, we couldn’t think of the perfect reason that this shoot could be used for, besides the aesthetics.
Now these images serve a special purpose to us and Crystal – to aid Japan. Well, at least that’s what we hope!!!
Therefore, we have decided to sell print images from our Modern Geisha Editorial Shoot and images from our Osaka & Kyoto trip in 2010 to raise money for the earthquake relief. These images will be printed professionally by our favorite lab – SmugMug. So, please click here to purchase some of these prints to help. Prints begin at ONLY $5 each!! All proceeds will be donated to {Heart-Japan} – an organization that works with direct relief in Japan. Share this link on your facebook or twitter if you can. Little by little, with your help of spreading the word, we will gather some funds to help them to provide water, food, shelter, and to rebuild their lost homes.
