WPPI International Photography Competition – JeZa Photography – Award Winning Wedding Photographer

It’s been an emotional and crazy journey of JeZa’s self discovery ever since we’ve met Scott Robert Lim last fall.  Attending Scott’s China World Tour Workshop last October was our very first formal professional training in photography, since then both of our lives has been changed drastically.  Career changed, life style changed, point of views changed, everything CHANGED.  Attending Scott’s workshop really opens our eyes & souls to understand who we are as a couple, and shaping us in not only in our photography journey but helping us to find out what we do best as an individual, and how we can live an extraordinary life together. Scott really brings out the best of us and keep pushing us to grow be the best form of Je and best form of Za.

Both Jeremy and I would like to publicly thank the entire Scott Robert community for all the support and inspiration in the past 10 months, present & future. We are fortunate have you around to help & learn from each other to grow in this journey.  We’ve supported each other, make fun of each other, do silly things with each other, cried & hugged each other and we are looking forward to do this endlessly.  All these small wonderful things from the SR community have impacted us so huge and we do treasure them. SR Crews ROCKS!!

Til this day, I still remember back in Feb 2009 I was reading Scott’s xanga blog post about his joy of competing at WPPI and winning 15 Accolade of Excellence Awards.   He said “wouldn’t it be great to compete in the Olympics, World Series, World Cup, Super Bowl, The Masters, Wimbledon? What a privilege it is to compete against the world’s best. To give it your best and see where you stack up.”  So, we did, seeing where we are stacking and we are humble and honor to receive a total of FIVE Accolade of Excellence Awards from the First Half of WPPI International Photography Competition. This was our very FIRST photography competition (if I may exclude the iPhone photo contest with Adorama, haha!). It was beyond belief to receive such an e-mail from WPPI this afternoon saying that we have won five awards. We truly feel blessed and grateful. All the glory and praises goes to our Lord Jesus Christ for bringing Scott to our lives.  We feel like our extraordinary lives really begins when we first met Scott!

To our photography father Scott Robert Lim, the way you teach photography is like you are giving the gift of photography skill to us.  If we did not have you as our mentor, we wouldn’t be able to create the images we wanted to produce at all. I know we still have a ton of room for improvement, but we are eager to learn more from you as our photography mentor and life coach!  I hope that in what we do now and future will make you a proud father! And thank you for encouraging us to go to WPPI Convention this year, and thank you Scott for sending us text, email and phone calls (triple reinforcements) to make sure that we make it NOT ONLY to the platform classes & trade show floor but MORE IMPORTANTLY to attend the print competition judging process meeting. What Scott said was absolutely true about viewing the judging process is the most valuable experience of WPPI.  Sitting at the print judging room to see David Williams critiques on each photo was really inspiring and a lot to learn from him, and this experience also helped us to understand what makes an winning shot.  Watching the print judge process was best time spent at WPPI besides reconnecting with amazing old friends and meeting new ones around the world (you know who you are! Haha!). So, YAH, WPPI 2011, I will see you in Vegas! I planed all jobs around WPPI to make sure I schedule time to come in 2010 and I will do the same for 2011.

PS1: We shot these images with very basic stuff like Sigma and Tamron brand lenses.  Still yet to make more $ to buy the nicer Nikon Stuff.  We are starving photographers up for hire, haha!!!!

PS 2: Thank you all the clients & models who helped us to bring our visions alive. Couldn’t do this without you!!

PS 3: Thank you all the WPPI photo judges to take hours & days from their lives to provide constructive criticisms on all the submitted photos.  We definitely needed their comments on how to improve them better. Reading the judging scores and comments from each photo from judges are so nerve racking at the same time really helped us to become better at our crafts.

So YEAH, WPPI ROCKS! EVERYONE NEEDS TO GO TO THEIR CONVENTION IN VEGAS!!  Thank you WPPI for making us better photographers. We LOVE WPPI!
