We were so excited to photograph Alesia & Niko’s engagement session in Shanghai during December 2011. With both of them loving fashion & movie, we wanted to create a very Editorial look & storytelling theme for the shoot. Our goal for this shoot is to apply every knowledge that we know about lighting, posing, styling, composition to deliver a style which is similar to the spreads you see on Vogue Magazine. I can’t tell you how much we love this shoot from concept planning to lighting, makeup, hair style, wardrobe, all these major component making the final result exciting. I want to take this time to say thanks to our special friends from Hong Kong – Mina & Kelvin of Kiseki Workshop who did the makeup, hair & lighting for this session. Amazing photo retouching work by master photo retoucher & biz partner Jeremy and I did the shooting and fashion styling part. Hope you guys like it and leave us comment below to let us know what you think.
About this amazing location: within two hours of drive from Shanghai, the province of JiangShu 江苏 is known as the Venice of the orient. In this province, a picturesque ancient water town called “JinXi 锦溪” has history over a thousand year. Many buildings and bridges of this town were built back in the Ming & Qing Dynasties (1300-1600). For artists and poets across the nation, they will travel hundreds of miles to arrive to this town to take long vacation in the hope of searching for new inspirations; This place also attracts many architects from the west to travel thousands of miles to live in this area and to study the structure of orient styles buildings, bridges and way of local lives. This place to me brings us back in the ancient dynasty era and I think it’s perfect for Alexia & Niko’s editorial engagement shoot.
